Tile Care & Maintenance
Learn top tips and best practices for maintaining your tile floors.
Daily Tile Care
Tile is a very durable and low-maintenance flooring option for your home. Here are some basic tips for how to best care for your tile floors.
Tile floors need to be swept and occasionally mopped to look their best. When you sweep, you help to remove dirt and other debris from your tile. Tile is tough on scratches, but debris can take its toll only on your floors if left to fester for an extended period. Sweeping every few days can ensure that your tile and grouting always look and perform great.
For grout cleaning, use a toothbrush and a mixture of baking soda, peroxide, and dish soap.
When mopping your floors, aim for a damp mop as opposed to a wet one. Tile is tough on water and moisture, but too much liquid on your flooring is never advisable.
We also recommend walking mats be placed at the entrances of your home.
DRY MESSES
For dry messes, use your broom to sweep up the accident. It's as simple as that. Tile floors are easy to care for and a broom and dustpan will be all you need most of the time.
LIQUID SPILLS
Liquid spills are no major concern so long as you wipe them in a timely manner. The longer you wait, the more likely damage will occur to the subflooring.
GROUT CLEANING
A homemade mixture of baking soda, peroxide, and dish soap will enable you to keep that grouting looking great!
